Summer Activities For Your Babies
Grade school kids aren’t the only ones who want to have fun during the hot summer months. Babies and toddlers still need things to do to enhance all areas of their development. These can include motor, recognition, language and social. Of course they need constant supervision as they participate in these activities.
Some activities are most suitable for outdoors. While the sun is out take your little one on a nature walk or have a water fight. Help them plant flowers or start a vegetable garden. Your toddler will enjoy helping with watering as well as playing in the dirt. They will love to make mud pies. Having a picnic is another great outdoor activity. Have your picnic at the park or even in your backyard. Take the advice given and “go fly a kite”. Baby might enjoy laying in the grass to do some cloud or bird watching.
After having covered some fun outdoor activities, active play can be good during the summer season too. Take your “mini me” to the pool where he can splash and swim. Get a variety of water toys and floats. Plastic bowls and buckets will be great to explore with too because since just about all toddlers love exploring in a sand box. Teach your kids some new dance movies as well as appreciation for different kinds of music. Other active play that is good for your toddler include playing with balls, catching, kicking and rolling. Blow some bubbles and chase them around a bit. Play games like ‘Ring around the Rosie’ and ‘hide and seek’. A puppet show is great to entertain the kids and fun to create.
Arts and crafts are awesome for small children. Sidewalk chalk can be really fun to color with, but be careful because babies will try to eat it. Make tie dye shirts. You can get the supplies to do this at your local arts & crafts store. Handprint art, finger painting and watercolor are all great. Allow your toddler to paint outside. Make some play dough and then let your little tike use his imagination to come up with all kinds of creations. Create new pictures using stamps. Gather your scarves, crepe paper and streamers with ribbons and enjoy dancing around.
Summertime can be educational for your little ones too. Trips to the library or books on CD/tape good to have. Discover sensory play for baby in water and foods like cooked noodles, rice or rice and beans. You can make sensory bottles with colored water and sink or float items. Make your empty Kleenex box into a discovery box by filling it with a variety of objects or toys that baby can feel and discover what’s inside. While you’ve got your baby out doing fun summer activities make sure she is comfortable in her diaper. Now is when she needs to feel most protected so get Pampers to prevent leakage and ensure a happy active baby.
